Register for workshop on Road Safety!

Workshop on Road Safety: Common European Training for safer roads and society is to be held in European Economic and Social Committee. As of today, more than 40 people have already registered to the joint PILOT4SAFETY and BALTRIS workshop "Road Safety: Common European Training for safer roads and society".

The event will be held February 27th 2012 from 10.00 - 16.45 at the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC), 99 rue Belliard, 1040 Brussels. It is free of charge and will be held in English with simultaneous interpreting into French and German.

The workshop will particularly highlight the importance of the road safety operations in the local and regional roads (secondary network) and will give important advice to regional authorities about this matter. The programme is scheduled to include a welcome speech by Stephane Buffetaut, President section TEN-ESSC and presentations from EC delegates. The project consortia will also share experiences with other stakeholders on this topic.

BALTRIS (http://www.baltris.org/) is a project within the European Union’s Baltic Sea Region Programme 2007-2013 to promote regional development through transnational cooperation whose specific objective is to develop tools and build capacity to better manage road infrastructure safety in the Baltic Sea Region.

PILOT4SAFETY (http://pilot4safety.fehrl.org/) is a DG MOVE project that kicked off on 1st June 2010. Six partners from across Europe are working together to contribute to the implementation of coherent safety procedures for the European road network, based on Directive 2008/96/CE of the European Parliament and of the Council.

By combining expertise of road authorities and academic institutions the BALTRIS project will bring out ready-to-apply road infrastructure management tools for the Baltic Sea Region.

With expertise from road authorities and academic institutions BALTRIS has brought ready-to-apply road infrastructure management tools. Working to improve road infrastructure safety we can enhance road safety, saving life, health and money.
