Improving Road Infrastructure Safety

Increasing road traffic volumes in the Baltic Sea Region come at the price of accidents during which lives are lost and injuries caused. Every year more than 30 000 persons are killed in road traffic in Europe (EU27. Source: CARE and/or national publications, April 2010). Safe transportation is truly important!

In the BALTRIS project authorities and academic institutions in Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and Sweden worked together for improved road safety. Procedure manuals and other outputs is found in the Output section.

Saving life, health and money

Safe transportation is an essential part of a flourishing society. No person should be killed or seriously injuried in traffic. Working together cross borders – of geography and knowledge – is a vital and cost-effective key for an attractive Europe.

Road infrastructure is one of the key pillars for road safety. Enhanced road safety saves life, health and money.
